Dantes works hard to become the captain of a ship. But another man, Danglars, also wants to be captain. By a trick, Danglars sends Dantes to prison. After years in prison, Dantes learns about Danglars's trick. He also learns about a chest of treasure buried on the island of Monte Cristo. After that, Dantes thinks about only two things: revenge and treasure. If he can escape from prison, he hopes to get both.
